Biography
As the day turns to night, an exciting tension arises — this is the space Sunset Arrival explores. Jen Li and Alex(ander) Joy are the two artists who together form the duo, creating sultry, psychedelic sound environments that perfect the moment. Their sound borders trip hop and house with an acid edge. Active members and founders of the Rainforest Pavilion and Astra Sound Collective, the two have been studying sound and music for decades.
Sunset Arrival's live set is something else entirely. Alexander Joy and Jenli take the stage with drum machines, synthesizers, live keys and Jenli's otherworldly vocals, building a sonic moment that will only ever exist then and there. The sound is ethereal: deep beats caress rolling basslines in a bed of lush pads, while Jenli's vocals capture the energy of the room and reflect it back with poetry that engages the mind. Every set is unique.
Rooted in Bali and shaped by Nusantara life, their cadence resonates with the magic of the islands. Their debut album, Ambient Sex Music, is due in 2026.
