Jonathan Kusuma

Jonathan Kusuma is a Jakarta DJ and producer, and one of the three founders of Dekadenz — the underground crew and club night he started with Aditya Permana and Ridwan. Active for over a decade, the project grew up outside the city's commercial nightlife as a platform for darker, more exploratory electronic music, built on long-form nights that favour atmosphere and gradual progression over instant impact.

The music around Dekadenz is deliberately open-ended. Drawing from alternative club histories and psychedelic electronic traditions, its programming lets sets move slowly and freely across tempos and textures without settling into fixed formulas — a curatorial language that links Jakarta's local context with international artists working beyond straightforward club conventions. The crew's label arm, Dekadenz Records, was conceived as documentation rather than promotion; its Themes For Divided Tribes compilation series highlights Indonesian artists exploring industrial pressure, fractured rhythms and outsider approaches to rhythm and structure.
