Biography

Gerry Zulchairy, aka Gero, is an open-eared record collector and creative entrepreneur who blends genres, tempos, and moods in borderless DJ sets. Equally at home soundtracking sunset sessions or after-midnight dancefloors, he’s guided by his connection to the audience and the music.

Born and raised in Jakarta, Gero grew up on disco, uptempo R&B, and city-pop. In his late teens, he began digging on YouTube and DJing house parties, later forming the Discouture collective and becoming a key figure in the city’s underground scene. In 2017, he relocated to Bali, where working at Studio Eksotika, a bespoke audiophile record store and bar, deepened his musical education. Immersed in vinyl, he expanded his palette to include rare groove, Caribbean music, balearic, italo, house, and techno, and founded the multidisciplinary collective Pesona.

Gero later served as the music director for Desa Potato Head and is now a resident at Klymax Discotheque. Influenced by Hunee, Antal, Sound Metaphors, and DJ Harvey, he approaches mixing as both a craft and an act of intuition, always searching for the “magic” moment. His mixes have appeared on Kiosk Radio, NTS, Sound Metaphors, and Refugee Worldwide.
